Higher number of corona-infections:
new restrictions in Bavaria
Because of the increased infections in Bavaria, the Bavarian state government has decided to introduce even stricter rules .
The new rules in Bavaria will initially apply from Wednesday 9th until January 5th, 2021.
Restrictions on leaving your house
From Wednesday December 9th onwards, people will only be allowed to leave the house for "valid reasons" - such as work, visits to the doctor, school, shopping, sports, church services and visits to another household.
Unlike in spring, however, shops will remain open. In regions with more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, there will also be a night-time curfew - with few exceptions such as professional activities or medical emergencies.
Christmas and New Year's Eve
During the Christmas period, specifically from December 23 to 26, contact restrictions will be relaxed: then, a maximum of ten adults plus children under the age of 14 may meet. For New Year's Eve, however, the planned relaxation of contact restrictions will be reversed - this means that only five adults from two households plus their children under the age of 14 will be allowed to meet.
From Wednesday December 9th, all vocational schools in Bavaria will switch to distance learning. This will also be the case for all pupils from grade eight onwards in corona hotspots with an incidence value of over 200, with the exception of final-year classes. Furthermore, from Wednesday onwards, all Bavarian pupils from the eighth grade onwards will switch between face-to-face and distance learning.
- Alcohol consumption in public places will be prohibited in the coming weeks.
- Cross-border traffic to neighbouring countries will only be possible for commuters and families.
- Church services: Everybody must now wear a face mask when seated. Singing is not allowed at the moment.
