by the Landheim Ammersee Team

Learn the German or English Language – Experience the Culture!

Landheim Ammersee offers young students - 14 to 16 years old - from July 25th to August 8th 2020 the unique opportunity to be part of an International Summer School. Students fully immerse themselves into German language and culture in one of the most beautiful places in Bavaria. We welcome international and German students to our prestigious boarding school in Schondorf on the banks of Lake Ammersee.

The International Summer School at Ammersee

The Summer School students will be fully integrated into the normal boarding school lifestyle and will have countless opportunities to improve their German / English skills through interaction with German / international students as well as the chance to establish lasting friendships with students from all over the world. Students will receive four periods of German / English language instruction per day. They focus on grammar, structure, vocabulary and style.

At the end of the academic school day, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide selection of extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, crafts and music.

On the middle weekend students take sponsored trips with our knowledgeable faculty to many interesting destinations, including e.g. Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Landsberg am Lech, Munich, the Alps and various royal castles throughout Bavaria. Hiking and outdoor adventure trips are also part of the program.

German classes in the mornings

Our target group consists of students from the age of 14 to 16, no matter if beginner or advanced in German / English, and who also have a basic knowledge of English.

Students will be completely immersed in a German-speaking environment at the school. Activities, both academic and extracurricular, will be conducted in German. Before starting their language course, all students sit a placement test which will be used to assign students to the appropriate learning group.

We teach German / English on three different levels, each level including vocabulary, grammar and style, written and oral expression and regional and cultural studies. Our collectively written Summer School newspaper will display experiences and progress of our students!

Beginners will cover basic language skills and a priority will be given to conversation. Intermediate students will read and discuss newspaper articles, short stories, and play scenes. To improve their knowledge of grammar and expand their vocabulary, they will read challenging and engaging texts and discuss current topics covered in daily newspapers. Students on higher levels work on an individualized, weekly schedule and will be encouraged, with the support of their teachers, to compose essays and reports on different themes discovered in literary texts.

All students also contribute to the course magazine which they take home at the end of the programme. All our teachers are native speakers with many years of teaching experience in German / English. Maximum size of any course group is 12 students.

Activities in the afternoons & weekend

There is no chance of getting bored in the afternoon, either. Our experienced teachers and enthusiastic assistants ensure that, whatever the weather or chosen activity, all students will enjoy themselves and get the most from their experiences.
