Hello Spring: 5 Insider tips to enjoy the season in Munich!
March • 21st, 2019
Today, March 21st , we´ll be kicking off the season of the bees, the flowers and the trees in our lovely city once again!
We are excited and looking forward to kicking out the winter coats and letting in those sunny spring vibes
Here are some truly exclusive insider tips from the Expat in the City team for the season
Tip 1: Sit around and watch the roses bloom at Rosengarten
The beautiful rose garden beside the Isar, offers an oases for relax and contemplation, only a 15 minutes walk from U-Bahn Frauenhoferstr. It will still take a little while before we can witness the great explosion of hundreds of roses in different colours and shapes, bit the first trees and flowers are already in blossom!
Where: Städtische Baumschule, Sachsenstraße 2
Tip 2: Watch the most amazing sunset at Lake Chiemsee
Merge with the sunset, the mountains, some reggae beats and a cool beer at our favourite lake in Bavaroa, Chiemsee, about an hour drive away from our city.
Three little birds… not much more to ad! Enjoy!
Tip 3: Grab your picknick and a blanket and find your special place at Englischer Garten OR just order your picknick to where you are!
Isarpicknick offers great packages for any occasion, from romantic to family- and brings it to where you order it along the Isar. Spring feelings, here we come!
Tip 4 : Take a Venezian gondola ride in front of Nymphenburger castle.
This has been our best of and long time favorite for many years now. In April our friends from Gondel Nymphenburg will get back into their gondoliere hats and striped shirts and row you along the Nymphenburger Kanal in front of the castle.
Here are the notes to O sole mio so you can start practicing :)
Tip 5: On Lift up and watch Munich´s unique skyline from the New Town Hall!
To this day, the city doesn’t allow buildings to exceed the height of the iconic Frauenkirche, which is something very special for a city of its size. This makes Munich’s skyline especially picturesque and beautiful.
An elevator (not easy to find, so you may ask for it once there!) will lift you up to several open air balconies at the top of the Neues Rathaus. Enjoy the stunning view and greet spring from high above!
